Neighborhood: Edgehill
Story Type: No or inadequate grocery store
My Story:
Kroger is the only grocery store in the area that we have to grocery shop and it is not conveinent to get to, let alone their prices are very unaffordable. I receive food stamps and I get less because of the prices. I always run short of food at the end of the month because of the price of the food. When possible, I go to the other side of town to a local market to get my meat because it's local owned and operated and they consider their prices because of the neighborhood they serve. This Grocery Story was collected at the Edgehill Food Awareness Cookout on August 31, 2010. The event was hosted by Edgehill Food Now!, a collaboration between the Edgehill Family Resource Center, Organized Neighbors of Edgehill and Re/Storing Nashville.
